The Walk Leaders for the Walbottle Ramblers are Ray and Tom.  Between them they organise the routes, carry out any reconnaissance necessary and then guide the walking  group around the route.  They also keep a detailed record of the walks which have been done.  This means that there is a considerable archive of walks which have been completed by the Walbottle Ramblers.  In spite of this Ray and Tom try to ensure that each walk is as fresh and original as it is possible to be.  Given the huge area we have as our play ground this is still  possible

RAY

Ray has been associated with the Walbottle Ramblers for about 25years.  He has spent the years since 1997 firstly as Assistant Leader then, in association with Tom, as Joint Leader.  Walking experience includes completing and navigating several long distance routes including the Pennine Way, The Southern Upland way, The Coast to Coast, and the West Highland Way.

For the future Ray would like to complete Coast to Coast walks across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

TOM

Tom has been associated with outdoor activities for more years than he cares to remember.  It all started in the Boy Scouts and carried on from there.  Since then he has had experience of  skiing and rock climbing, as well as general fell and mountain walking.  He has had walking experience in Spain, Madeira, Majorca, Morocco and New Zealand as well as this country.  With Ray Tom has also completed the West Highland Way and part of the Southern Upland Way.

Tom has been involved with the Walbottle Ramblers since 1992 and has been Joint Walk Leader with Ray  since 200 4 Tom is a qualified First Aider.
